SPOUTS AND FIREWORKS. Tho carnival which was postponed from Thursday will now be bold on Saturday night, when the whole programme will be carried out as previously arranged. So as not to disappoint tiio public, the whippets arc being retained at considerable extra expense, and will bo seen in both Hat and hurdle events. Excellent entries have been received for both the running and cycling events, including , the wellknown footballers Webb, oi the ’Varsity Club, and Peterson, of the Southern, besides Oliver, the league playf. An added attraction to the cycling event., is the pursuit race, the first of its kind in Dunedin; also tin; old-timers" race, in which such ■ well-known . performers as H. Withey, J. Hapson, and W. Laws are competing. The. meeting will conclude with a display of ii reworks by the Chinese "residents, who are uneqnaileJ in this form of amusement.
