There was a good attendance at Wednesday's meeting of the Dunedin branch of tlio Women’s National Council, the last for this .year. , A resolution proposed by Miss llnncimrm was heartily carried, expressing warm appreciation of Miss Cow's valuable support of. the council during the years she has been; a member. A letter was received from the Trained Nurses’ Association stating that Miss Torrance had been ap-, pointed delegate in place of Miss Gow, who is removing to , Christchurch. Amendments to the constitution carried; at this-year’s conference and a number of new standing orders were discussed. Suggested amendments to_ the Child Welfare Act were then considered. One of these is that “Child” within the meaning of the Act be defined to mean a young person under tlio age of seventeen instead of sixteen as at present. Members were reminded of the sale of work in aid of the funds of the council, .which is to-be held-'next February. •
