BOXING CHAMPIONNSHIP
LEGKJE v. GRIFFITHS. On Saturday night of next week at the Kensington Drill Hall, commencing with the preliminaries at 8 o’clock, will bo staged what is expected to he one of the most thrilling encounters ever promoted in Ne>v Zealand. Under the auspices of the Otago Boxing Association two far-famed' Dunedin hoys in'Johnny Decide, feather-weight champion of New Zealand, and Tommy Griffiths, challenger, who has been the leading contender for the title for some time past, will meet. The contest will h ’ over 15 rounds, and Avill be for the -title and purse of £l5O, and already speculation is rife as to the likely outcome ul the light. Lcckie’s admirers arc confident ot victory, but there are many who fancy Griffiths’s, chance, and the ’cncountci, should bo marked by scientific boxing. Enthusiasts should see one of the finest exhibitions over staged in the dominion, and they will bo able to view the light from any part of the ball, which itself will ho in darkness, special'lighting being erected oyer the ring, which will be elevated to a height of -Ift. Special preliminaries have been arranged, and the St. Kildu Band will lie in attendance Arrangements for the sale of tickets are advertised.
