1 THE PREMIER’S ATTITUDE NOT TO BE DRAWN [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, November 22. An effort was made unsuccessfully by Mr At more . (Nelson) in the House to-day to obtain a definite statement from the Prime Minister regarding his Licensing Bill plans. “ Will the Prime Minister inform Parliament and the people whether .ho proposes proceeding with the Licensing Bill this session, and will he make a frank statement of Ids own attitude in this connection? ”
Mr Coates expressed regret that lie had not been given'more time to consider so important a question, but the House could scarcely expect anything hut a frank answer. “1 have already indicated to tho House and to the country generally that I have taken - an opportunity to consider, tho question. 1 am in negotiation with the different viewpoints of members within the House itself, and later on shall be glad to comply with the hon. member’s request.”, . The opinion was expressed by the Premier, in reply to another question, that he hoped to see the session linisbed within a week.
