RECORD ENTRIES. Owing to the wet and backward season. the Taierl Agricultural Societv expected that t here would -be a considerable I'alling off in the number of entries for the annua! show to be held on Saturday next, but instead it has come out with record entries, a total of 116 above last year. The entries tor the competitions, being post entry this year, have still to be added. Entries'in cattle and sheep have increased considerably. Draught horses liavo dodined slightly and light horses have dropped by half, the cause of this being set down to the universal use of motor cars, Dairy produce has about doubled, and cookery has gone up by 122 entries, which shows the great interest taken in the show by the ladies of the Taieri and surrounding districts. Appended is an abstract ot comparisons of entries for 1926 and 1927 Dairy cattle, 79, 107; fat_ cattle, 10, 9; draught horses, 72, 67: light horses, 39, 27; ponies, 47, 16; competitions, 21, post entries; slice]), 4u, 48; fat sheep, 17, 29; dogs, 12, 10; pigs, 0,1; dairy produce, IS, 33; open classes cookery, 170. 272; amateur classes cookery, 119, 139; cured meats, 0, 9.
