“HIGH-SPIRITED YOUTH ”
DISTURBANCE AT DAHGE Guilty of an offence which counsel characterised as being due to highspiritedness, an 18-year-old youth, Allred Edward Arnndalo, was fated with tho consequences of his folly at the Police Court this morning, wheiyhe was charged with using threatening behaviour in the Trades Hall on October 11 while a public entertainment was being held. The accused, who was represented by Mr B. S. Irwin, pleaded guilty. Sub-inspector Fahey said that on tho date in question the accused visited the Trades Hall, and at the supper adjournment was under tho influence of liquor. Ho started throwing bread about, and struck the doorkeeper. He refused to go to the clonk room to get his coat and hat when" he was requested to do so, but eventually he was got to the room after damaging a door for which he had since paid. His admission money had been returned to him, and ho was finally sent away, though ho returned later and wanted to fight. Ho had previously been lined for a similar offence. ... The reason ascribed by Mr Irwin lor the accused’s outbreak was that someone threw a piece of bread at him, and ho had thrown another piece back. The doorkeeper had also dealt with the accused by throwing him across a chair, the latter hurting his head. He was just a high-spirited youth, who would be better away from these places. The Magistrate (Mr H. W. Bundle. S.M.): “A man doesn’t behave like that as the result of high spirits only!” Mr Irwin; • “Someone else threw bread at him, and that person was equally to blame for tho disturbance.’ The Magistrate: “Why did ho come back, ihent'” , Mr Irwin: “Ho was laboring under a, sense of injustice after being thrown The Magistrate intimated that he would adjourn the case for a week lor a report from the probation officer.
