BOUND FOR HOLLYWOOD
MISS HEW ZEALAND’S TRIP AUCKLAND LADY THE CHAPERON Two lucky ladies will board the Makura, hound for ’Frisco, at Wellington, in December. Great interest will centre in the younger, Miss Dale Austen, New Zealand’s ambassadress to Hollywood. But many women in the dominion will envy Miss New Zealand’s chaperone, Mrs Vernon, of Auckland. The appointment of the chaperon on this wonderful trip to America lias just been announced, and from now on Miss Austen will have a busy time preparing for her departure for filmland as New Zealand’s elect.
Miss Austen completed a Highlysuccessful two weeks’ performance nt tho Empire Theatre on Thursday night, and on Friday left for Invercargill. Reports from tho Southland town show that Miss Austen is immensely popular. and crowded houses have been paying tribute to her beauty and acting. She will return to Dunedin on Wednesday, and will go to Oamaru on Friday for a two night’s performance. She then returns to Dunedin to make preparations for her trip abroad.
