Two additional bodies —thoso of John Stinson Carroll (of Watson’s Bay) and Eliza Louisa Asher (of Vauclusc)— were found floating in the harbor near the scene of the collision.
Captain Howell, ono of the assessors appointed by the Commonwealth Navigation Department to inquire into the disaster, has resigned, as he made a marine survey of the Tahiti in the interests of the owners, from whom lie accepted fees; consequently the regulations prevented Mr Howell from sitting on the inquiry to watch the interests of the Crown.
