COMMONWEALTH SHIPS

THE DECISION TO SELL

INTEREST AT HOME

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.

LONDON, November 11, Shipping circles followed the Federal House debate on the Commonwealth Lino closely, and welcome tho result. .They are now eager to know the method of selling the ships, whether by tender or otherwise. It is pointed out that _ though tho previous prohibitive conditions of sale have been removed it will still not bo plain sailing for any purchaser. In view of Labor’s opposition to the sale, fears are expressed regarding the attitude of some unions, and the suggestion has been made that when the ships are transferred to the British register serious Labor troubles may be encountered, or the ships may be singled out from all the others and declared black owing to the reversion to the British wage conditions instead of the Australian conditions. , ■ .
