COAL OWNERS MEET
A BETTER FEELING [Per United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, November 11. In his address to the annual meeting of coal mine owners Air Holdgato congratulated them on bavin" had a fairly peaceful year. There had been, however, two attempts by minors to gain further concessions curtailing the shiftmen’s time in the South Island and in the Waikato. .With regard to the claim of tho right to select men to fill vacancies, should any occur, never probably had they had a demand so unreasonable ajicl-far-reaching in an endeavor to gain control. Ho took it that they would all agree tho demand could not be acceded to, whatever cost or inconvenience might be entailed. On the whole there had been a better feeling between the owners anti the employees, which should bo fostered if possible. The address covered many problems, including the competition or hydro-elec-tric power. The following officers were elected: •—President, Colonel W. D. Holdgato (.re-elected); vice-president, Mr A. M‘Kellar„, (re-elected); executive— Messrs T. Shailer Weston, AV. A. Flavell, R, Lee, E. S. Wright, AV. Crawford (all re-elected)',-and G. G. Townsend; auditor, Mr W. C. Stephens.,
