DRUIDISM

Tlie meeting of Boyal Oak Lodge of Druids was held in the lodge room, Caversham, A.D. Bro. Page presiding. D.P. Bro. Castle (No. 5 District, Canterbury) was present officially, and received a warm welcome. The following visitors were also present:—P.A. Bro. Napier (Pride of Mornington), P.A. Bro. Johns (Mistletoe), P.A. Bro. Avery (Otago), and Bro. Bezetfc (Enterprise). Bros. Napier and Johns announced themselves as candidates for the position of district president of No. 2 district. The lodge adjourned early to enable Bro. Butler’s Kanamuse concert party to give an entertainment. There was a large gathering of friends, including the members of Progress Juvenile Lodge, No. 2. The concert proved an unqualified success, each item being loudly applauded by the large audience. The singing of the National Anthem brought the proceedings to a close.

The fortnightly meeting of Mistletoe Lodge was held in the P.A. Hall, Green Island, A.D. Bro, Smith presiding over a fair number of members. AHsitors present were—D.P. Bro. Maybee, P.A. Bro. Napier, and Bro. Clark, who spoke highly of the lodge of instruction. Since the lodge meeting was hold the deatli had to bo recorded of Bro, Callaghan, sen., who joined the lodge by clearance at its inception. Many Druidic brethren attended the funeral, which was under tho care of P.D.P. Bro. Reid, while the Rev. C. A. Kennedy officiated at the graveside, and the Druids’ oration was given by P.D.P. Bro. AA’ilson. The lodge extends its sympathy to the widow and family of the deceased brother. Enterprise Lodge held its meeting m the Oddfellows’ Hall, Kensington, last AA'cclnesday, A.D. Bro. ,T. Bond presiding over a good muster of members. Two new members were initiated into the order. AMsitors present were—P.A. Bro. John (Mistletoe) and P.A. Napier (Pride of Mornington).
