FATAL FALL FROM TRUCK, ' A man named James Low, aged 55, died while being conveyed to the Auckland Hospital yesterday morning, following a fall from a truck at the Central wharf. While engaged in unloading sugar from a barge, Low fell into the harbor from a railway truck. Although lie was breathing when a fellow workman got him out, Low was dead when Hie ambulance reached the hospital. He was a married man, reside ing at Northcote. FARMER KICKED RY HORSE. A farmer named G. I. Falkuer was admitted to Gisborne Hospital last evening suffering from severe injuries, and is reported to he in a critical condition. While lie was returning to his buggy after opening a gate on his property the horse lashed out and kicked him on the head. [ Mrs Murphy, aged 67, who was badly burnt in a lire in a house in William street on .Sunday, died in the hospital to-day.—Christchurch Press Association telegram. RETURNED SOLDIER’S DEATH. Peter M'Dougall, a returned soldier, with no relatives in the dominion, died in the ambulance yesterday on his way to the J 1 awora Hospital. The deceased had resided lately at Eltham, where ha fell down some stairs a few days ago, fracturing a rib, which penetrated Ids lung. ■ Yesterday morning at' 8.15 a Clayton steam car overtook a ganger named William Stevens, of, Hakataramea, whilst he was proceeding on a jiggdr on the Knrow line near Hiilies siding (says an Oamaru message). It is understood that it is customary for the ganger to proceed to a point below, Hiilies. siding. The Clayton car, whistled, and Stevens apparently endeavored to keep ahead or it, but was overtaken. The car threw the jigger and the driver over the bank. Stevens was removed to Knrow, and later to the Oamaru Hospital, suffering from facial abrasions and scalp wounds. His condition is not considered serious.
