TO-DAY’S GASH PRICES
The guide gives the ruling prices in the city retail shops.
Grocery prices remain unaltered, although eggs are a little scarcer this week. Eggs stand at Is 8d a dozen; butter is Is 7d and Is 9d lb; sugar is selling at 3]d or 17s 6,d for a 701 b bag.
Meal prices remain at:—Lamb, 9s quarter; mutton, 2d to 7|d lb; beef, 3d to lid lb.
Fish prices are;—Soles, from 4d each; flounders, from 4d each; groper, 10d lb; kingfish, 10d lb; blue cod, 10d lb; deep sea red cod, 31b for Is; ling, 31b for Is; smoked blue cod, Js 3d lb; whitebait, 1s glass.
j The price fist for fruit is as follows:—Pears (Winter Coles), 8d lb; bananas, 8 for Is; Delicious apples, 6d and 8d lb; small dessert apples, 4d lb; California lemons, 3d each; Australian lemons, 5 for Is •; Valencia oranges, S for Is and Is 3d; pineapples, Is 6cl to 2s 6d.
Vegetable prices are:—Potatoes, 8s 6d a cwt, or 101 b for Is; carrots, 101 b for Is; parsnips, 81b for Is; cabbages, 4d and 6d each; swede turnips, 141 b for Is; rhubarb, 3d lb; Island tomatoes, Is 6d lb; new potatoes, 4d lb; cauliflowers, 1s and Is 3d; lettuce, 3d, 4d, and 6d; asparagus, Is 3d bunch; Peninsula potatoes, lOd lb; cucumbers, Is 3d and Is 6d each; green peas, 9d lb; local hothouse tomatoes, 3s lb.
