CALCUTTA TEA SALES. CALCUTTA, November 9. At the tea sales a useful selection was offered. The market was active, with prices advancing for all descriptions, values showing increases of 1 to 2 1 annas. The average prices were: Common pekoe souchong, 13 annas 6 pies to 14 annas; clean common broken pekoe souchong, 14 annas 6 pies to 14 annas 9 pies; even black loaf pekoe, 14 annas 6 pies to 15 annas. AMERICAN COTTON CROPS. WASHINGTON, November 9. The Agriculture Department forecasts that the 1927 cotton production will be 12,842,000 bales, instead of 17,997,000 bales, below' the 1926 yield. The report credited the difference to tho warm, dry October weather, which permitted rapid gathering of the crop, also the bolls damaged by weevils matured with less rot than usual. Cotton dropped 110 points, which is about sdol a bale on the Chicago market and Gclol a bale on the New York market, after publication of the report. CHICAGO WHEAT. NEW YORK, November 9. Chicago wheat quotations: December, 125 i cents per bushel; March, 139 1-7; May, 131 J. ______ THE TALLOW MARKET, LONDON, November 9. At the tallow sales 891 casks were offered and 310 sold.
