ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
MISHAP WITH PEA RIFLE. Mrs Florence Whale was admitted to Gisborne Hospital last evening suffering from the effects of a pea gun bullet in tho side of tho chest. Mrs Whale’s son was going shooting, anil picked ii]) a pea rifle, and, not knowing it was loaded, touched tho trigger. Tho bullet struck his mother on the side of the chest. Tho injuries are reported as not serious.—Press Association. CONSTABLE FOUND SHOT. Between 8 and 9 o’clock this morning the report of a firearm was heard at the rear of tho police station, Wanganui, and later the prostrate form of Constable Robert Sims was found in the yard, with a service revolver bullet wound near the heart. He was taken to the hospital in a critical condition.—Press Association.
