THE FERRY DISASTER
INQUEST ON VICTIMS ADJOURNED TILL NEXT WEEK. Pres* Association—By Telegraph-Copyrgbt. SYDNEY, November 9. The inquest was opened, but was adjourned until Wednesday next, to allow counsel lor the different interested parties to prepare their cases. A DOCTOR’S EVIDENCE. DROWNING CAUSE OF EVERY DEATH. SYDNEY, November 9. At the inquest Dr Palmer, Government medical officer, said that, in his opinion, drowning was the cause of almost every death. Ex-detective Comyn, who was a passenger on another ferry, from which he witnessed the accident, said that when he first sighted the Greyeliffe she was about four lengths ahead of the Tahiti, and to he bearing in towards tho larger ship. Tho Greyeliffe appeared to he drawn in towards the Tahiti, although the ferry apparently had not altered her course. Re then heard one short blast from the Tahiti, and the latter appeared to push the Greyeliffe over, striking her twice—forward and amidships.
