(Received November 9, at 10.30 a.m.) In tho House of Representatives the Assistant Minister of Health (Sir Neville ilowso) announced that tho Commonwealth had purchased ten grammes of radium, valued at £IOO,000. He explained that there was among tho Federal Ministers a desire that there should be no delay in deciding whether the extraordinary claims, made particularly in the United Stales, for radium treatment were justified. It was recognised that there had been an alarming spread of cancer in Australia, in fact, all over tho world. The Ministry was anxious to take every possible step to alleviate or cure the condition ol those suffering from this disease. One ol the loading exponents of radium treatment in Britain—Dr Burrows—would arrive in Australia next month to place radium treatment on the best pof-ihlc basis in he Commonwealth.
