CARELESS MOTORISTS
LACK CF CONSIDERATION DEPRECATED Tho warning to proceed slowly and quietly past hospitals apparently lias little significance to a section of tho motoring community.- In a letter to tlxo Otago Motor Club considered at the monthly meeting last night reference was made by tho hospital authorities to the fact fhat complaints had again been made of the noise of motor cycles and motor cars, more particularly the former, while passing the hospital in Cumberland street, principally on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Tho Hospital Board asked if some steps could be taken to minimise the nuisance to tho unfortunate patients. “This is undoubtedly a frightful nuisance,” said Mr A. J. W. Wood, the acting chairman, “and I know that all right-thinking motorists will be extremely careful in not making a noise while passing ' these institutions. A great number of these offenders are not members of the club, and as a dub we want to discountenance any such practices. If they persist, our only remedy is to apply to tho police to act in tho matter of silencers. I would like to make a particular appeal to all motorists to exorcise care and consideration in this respect.”
