ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

MOTOR COLLISIONS. A motor lorry, driven by Mr Hunt, a resident of Taita, Wellington, collided with a, motor cyclist at Palmerston North last evening. The collision was nob serious, hut the lorry got out ol control, landing in a ditch. The driver was thrown through the windscreen, suffering severe cuts and a broken log. Ho was admitted to hospital. Shortly before (5.30 last night a man. named Con. Dovonport, who resides at the Central Hotel, Wellington, was driving a. motor car along Jcrvois quay, when he collided with a trmnear. Ho did not have to wait long lor assistance, for tho accident happened outside the door of the free ambulance station. This was the first call on the services of the free ambulance. Dovonport was taken to the hospital, where bo was found in bo suffering front fractured ribs. His condition is not serious. A FARM HAND'S DEATH. The man who was loam! dead in seine scrub In Taita Gorge, Wellington, early on Sunday, morning with his throat cut has been identified as E. W. AVheeler, a farm hand, aged 37. A considerable sum of money was found in his pockets. An inquest will be held. SUICIDE. At the inquest on the body of the man who was found .with his throat cut at Taita evidence was given that deceased was Frederick William Wheeler, a, farm hand, aged 37, who returned to the dominion six weeks ago from Australia. A verdict of suicide was returned. RETURNED SOLDIER’S DEATH. The body found under the Grafton bridge has been identified as that of Thomas Williams, x-esiding in Hobson street. He was a single man and a returned soldier, who recently came from Tauroroa, near Whangarci, where be was employed in a quarry.—Auckland Press Association telegram. INJURIES. TO FINGERS. While discharging cargo from a boat at the wharf this morning Michael Lemian, aged 50, married, a waterside worker, had the fingers of his right hand caught between two . barrels, He was taken to the hospital. LEG INJURIES. Walter Smith, aged 20, employed as n mechanic at Shiel’s Garage, was taken to the hospital at. 11.45 this morning with injuries to his right leg, which was caught between two motor cars.
