KING OF THE HEDJAZ
MOTOR CARAVAN FLEET
LUXURY IN THE DESERT.
LONDON, October 26. When Ibn Saud, King of the Hed* iaz, henceforth travels in the desert he will employ a fleet of motors accommodating his suite and bodyguard of fifty and bis harem of twenty-four wives.
The harem will no longer be compelled to rido on camels, shut up in the stifling heat, but it will ride in luxurious caravans equipped with thick carpets and cushions. There are no windows permitting a view of the inside, but the roof lights are of opaque glass, and the caravans arc cooled by electric fans.
The King’s bodyguard will travel in two charabancs of a fleet of eight vehicles which cost £II,OOO, and are of 20 h.p., with giant tyres, huge radiators and CO-gaHbii petrol tanks.
