WORDSKILL PROSECUTION

PROMOTER FINED GHAFiGE AGAINST PUBLISHER DISMISSED [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, October 28. The magistrate (Air Alosley) gave his reserved judgment in the cases against Charles John Brown, one of tlio promoters of the “ wordskill ” competition, and Thomas Edward Robson, publisher of the ‘ Star,’ in which tho advertisement appeared, the police alleging that the competition was a mode of chance. Brown was convicted and fined £lO and costs, and the charge against Robson was dismissed, the magistrate bolding that a post office box could not be brought under the meaning of the Act as premises.
