REJECTION OF STRIKE PROPOSAL CONFERENCE TO BE ARRANGED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, October 20. Meetings of seamen in all fbo capital cities rejected the strike proposal, and it is expected that a conference with the shipowners will be arranged, and an agreement readied. The threat ol a strike arose out of the owners in the new log requiring the union to undertake to pay to the Owners’ Association for the owner of a vessel £SO compensation on every occasion when a vessel is delayed by the act of a member of the union, and also guarantee that there would bo no further job control.
