CANTERBURY TURF NOTES
[Special to the ‘Star.’] CHRISTCHURCH, October 26. Rapier was out to-day doing steady pace work. He is none the worse for his trip to Trentham, where he ran a solid race in the Champion Plate, a performance which enhanced his fsew Zealand Cup prospects. He will be a starter at Motukarara on Saturday, and will be ridden by C. Emerson, his C’ount Cavour was allowed to stride along in useful -work to-day. Ho is in fine fettle, and a strong gallop to-mor-row should put him in good foim ioi Saturday’s race at Motukarara. Footfall was given strong work today in preparation for something more strenuous to-morrow. Ho is booked for a race in the Akaroa Handicap on Saturday, when ho will be ridden by F E Jones, who has almost recovered from the effects of his fall at Wingatm. Footfall’s Riccarton programme has not been settled definitely. _ Ho has not had tho racing that his trainer desired, and it i,s possible ho will not bo a starter in the New Zealand Cup.
