The monthly meeting of the Knox Church Men’s Club was held last evening in Jay’s Lounge, when there was a good attendance of members and their friends. In the absence of Die president, Rev. Tulloch Yoiue, The vice-pre-sident, Mr David Todd, took the chair. Dr V, J. Porteous gave a scries of word pictures arising out oi his work as a medical mission; // in India. _ Hi* hearers wore intensely interested in the doctor’s vivid descriptions, the more so as Knox Church has undertaken the support of Dr Adam Ilarvic, who is now carrying on the work initiated by l)i Porteous. Messrs J. Sinclair and (i A. "Wiseman were Dio vocalists for the evening, and both gave humorous items that were enthusiastically received. Ms A. M'Donald contributed two piano, forte solos, and Mr W. J. Lennon acted as leader while the company sang various choruses. During - the evening o' was announced that the final social gathering for the present season woulc take the form of a banquet to be hel< on October 3.
