SYDNEY HARBOR BRIDGE

ALL WORK STOPPED RESULT OF STRIKES Pipes Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, August 19. (Received August 19, at 10.30 a.m.) As the result of a sti’iko of boilermakers and ironworkers’ assistants employed on the harbor bridge, all construction work has been stopped. Work at the quarries which provide the stone for the bridge is also slipped owing to a strike of crane-drivers. Altogether, COO men are idle. The men demand an extra 00s a week for working at heights. As tho contract of the construction company with the Government provides for-payment of award rates only, the management refused the demand of tho men, who have been advised that the Government alone could authorise the increase in tho payments asked for.
