OTAGO HUNT CLUB

MEETING OF COMMITTEE The committee of tlio Otago Hunt Club last night was presided over by Mr B. S. Invin. Mr M. Shine, tlio huntsman, was "ranted permission to accept the position of clerk of course to the Dunedin Jockey Club for the season, and it was resolved that, as a try-out, ho be appointed to act as clerk of course for the Hunt Club’s races in place of Mr J. Mowat, who was accorded a vote ot thanks for his services during a number of years. The district traffic manager of railways wrote intimating that there noun! hi a good train service to the Wingatui course on the day of the races, September 10, and that both expresses, to the south and from the south, would stop at Wingatui. The Band of the First Battalion, Otago Regiment, was engaged to supply the music at the races. It was decided to donate two cups, each value sgs, to - the Otago A. and P. Society as special prizes for hunters events at the Summer Show. As Mr W. Rudkin is going for a trip to Australia, Mr A. 1). Xtdgar was appointed as the judge for the races. Messrs W. Quirk and T. Fogg were appointed to measure distances for the trotting races. Three new members were elected. Only one paddock will be used for motors at the race meeting. D.J.C. and Hunt Club members’ motors iM’n to be admitted free, and non-members’ motors are to pay half a crown each. It was resolved to close the hunting season on August 27 with a run at Wingatui. Mr B. Grcenslade has offered to provide the tea. The Secretary (Mr Caffin) was instructed to cable to Mr J. R. Henry, of Melbourne, to procure three breeding hounds, so as to keep up the standard of the pack. Handicaps for the races are due on the 2Gth inst.
