EGYPT TO INDIA
BASRA-KARACH! SECTION FLYING BOATS ADVOCATED (Official British News.) Press Association—By Wireless—Copyright. RUGBY, August 17. (Received August 18, at JI a.m.) The cruise of the Royal Air Force flying boats which is now proceeding in Northern Europe, and the coining cruise of the Hying boats from Southampton to Singapore, have directed attention to the possibility ol u*iog these craft on the last section of the Imperial Airways route to India. At. present flights on the section between Basra and Karachi are help up pending ratification by the Persian Government of an agreement permitting flights along the Persian coast. The value of flying boats in Imperial communication is generally recognised, and ‘ The Times ’ suggests that the two lame passenger all-metal boats now building for the Air Ministry might bo used on the Basra-Karadii section to complete without delay the EgyptIndia service. In view of the JOO per cent, reliability ol the Cairo-Basra. section and the increasing volume of mail letters canned, the belief is expressed that the commercial community will use it freely when a through service is established.
