The Rome correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ reports that, despite the Osservatore Romano's strong protests, the I'dine Provincial ComniisSioiq sentenced live priests to periods of political exile ranging from one to lunr years. I According to a cablegram from Rome on August Id. the ‘ Osservatore Romano,’ the Vatican organ, reported that the Fascist authorities had arrested live priests holding high positions in the diocese of Udine. It said that it did not know the reasons for the arrests. The ‘ Gnxzcta Del Popolo ’ declared that the arrests wore owing to anti-Eascist intrigues, which the authorities could no lunger tolerate.]
