AIK AND ’PHONE. A wcullbv Chicago woman, Mrs B. C. Pahlbcrg, slaying in Paris, desired (says the Paris correspondent of tho ‘ Sunday Times ’) to ring up her husband in Nov/ York; but there are no facilities in Paris to telephone to Now York, so sho flew to London to do it. , She first sent a telegram io tho Savoy Hold asking for a telephone call to Iks arranged between the Savoy and an hold in New York at 10.30 on Friday evening. Mrs Dahlbcrg’s husband was expecting the call, but there was a good delay in getting through to him. Eventually (he connection was made at 11 o’clock, and husband and wife had six minutes’ conversation. By tho first aeroplane Mrs Dahlberg flew back to Paris. After making the call she mentioned that she had had "particular and private reasons ” for speaking to Now York, and, as there was no telephone communication between Franco and the United States, she decided to fly to London lo make the call. Tins is believed to bo the first time that anyone has journeyed specially to London from the Continent to make a ’phone call.
