EXTRAORDINARY TALE
REPLY TO THEFT CHARGE KNEW KING AND PRIME (.Per Dkited Press Association.) _ CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. When Albert Cox, a military-looking wan, was charged to-day with the theft of the mayor’s overcoat, valued at £5 Bs, from the City Council Chambers, ho pleaded not guilty, and told an extraordinary tale of his past activities, alleging that he knew the King personally, had served under tho Prince of Wales, had fought the _ dope traffic in India, and held inside information in regard to the Burwood murder. The magistrate (Mr Mosley) remanded accused until to-morrow so that inquiries may be made.
