The Bishop of Gloucester (Dr Headlam). at the Faith and Order Congress, criticised America for having too many rival religious bodies, whose doctrines were narrowly separated. lie urged the creation of an organised territorial ministry in America, giving religious ministrations available to everyone. Alluding to Mexico, bo condemned the Protestant churches of one country for joining with an anti-clerical State to prohibit the Roman Catholic schools. Educational freedom was essential to Christ i Mil liberty. UNITY DISCUSSED. LAUSANNE, August 16. (Received August 17, at 10 a.m.) The conference on Faith and Order discussed the unity of Christendom and the relations of the churches. Dr Nathan Soderblom (Archbishop of Upsala, Sweden) recommended aiming at unity in multiplicity. He mentioned the Church, which had a constitutional episcopate. The Bishop of Gloucester (Dr Headlam) gave a comprehensive and incisive conception of a united church, pleading the importance of Christian unity.
