There, is a romantic story behind the appearance at Covent Garden recently of Miss Florence Easton, the soprano of the Afetropolitan Opera House, New York. While on a holiday in England with her husband she visited Covent Garden and was. recognised among the audience. The management at once asked her to appear as the Princess in Puccini's ‘ Turandot.’ “ Aly appearance in Qpera in London was far from ray thoughts when I left America,” said Afiss Easton. “At first I wanted to refuse; then I thought how fine it would be to sing once again to English folk.” Alias Easton left her homo in Middlesbrough as a girl and won fame in Berlin, Hamburg, and Chicago. In Now York she sang with Caruso and Galli-Curci.
