MONTHLY MEETING OPENED The monthly meeting of the Otago Education Board was opened to-day; present—Messrs J. Wallace (chairman), J. Horn, M.P., .Lv Sanderson, J. Smith, G. Livingstone, J. Mitchell, R. H. Todd. V. MTvinlc.v, J. H. Wilkinson, and Hon. I). T. Fleming, M.L.C. ARCHITECT’S RECOMMENDATIONS. The architect's recommendations for repairs, renovations, etc., were as follows ; Kaikorai.—The committee made application for infant room improvements. —•The Chairman said if the application was granted they would be Hooded with applications from town schools. _ After bearing the architect's explanation the request was granted. Henley. The committee reported that it had decided to raise the school playground, and asked tile board to sec the proposed scheme. The architect suggested that the committee might be met as requested, and assisted as far as possible.-—it was decided to make a grant not to exceed £lO. Warrington.—(l) Letter was received from the "Evansdale Committee stating Hint the road to Evansdale from Merton was being widened, and the result would be that considerably more traffic would be diverted along the road front Evansdale to Warrington, rendering it still more unsafe for school children; (d) the architect reported on the pronosed now school at Warrington.—lt was decided to receive the first communication, and to make an application to the Education Department for the new school. GENERA L. On the motion of Mr J. Mileliell it was decided to write the Onmarn Borough Council in. connection with the flooding of the Awamoko School. The Wakari Committee applied for subsidy for topdressing of playground. —Recommended. Tlie Education Department wrote that a, grant of £B6 bad been made towards the cost of the South Dunedin denial clinic.
