DIVORCE IN FRANCE
AMERICAN BISHOP'S ATTACK LONDON, August 1. Tho Bishop of New York, Dr William Manning, in a sermon at tho American Church, says the Paris correspondent of the ‘Daily Nows,’ created a sensation by a scathing attack on the Paris divorce system. Ho declared that divorces could be grunted under French law on grounds which did not hold good in America. Tins tempted rich Americans to cross the Atlantic to take advantage of tho French system “Such divorces," said Dr Manning, 11 make a mockery of marriage, and axe a shame and a dishonor to France, just as the increasing flood of divorces in America is ft dishonor to that country.” Paris divorces for Americans, he declared, were scandalous and shameful. Ho vigorously condemned trial marriage as nothing but a perfectly brazen proposal lo sausetion prostitution and legalise free love, having its headquarters in Russia, whoso avowed purpose was to destroy moraliiy and religion
