BUILDERS’ BALL

Socially and Jiiumcially, the annua! hall of the Hmicdiu Builders and Contractors’ Association, held in the Old Art Fallen - last night, was a big success. Tim attendance surpassed all expectations, nearly dot) being on the lloor, and the jollity was present from the first dance to the last. The enjoyment of all was the aim ot (lie committee, and it scored full points. There was not a dull moment throughout, and the plentiful distribution of .streamers and lints gave the ball a carnival air. Air D. A. O’Connell was master of ceremonies, and Air A. S. Cookson was the secretary. They were assisted by a committee comprising Messrs F. L. Lawrence (president), W. Boss, J, Y. Love, G. Glue, J. R. Siemiut. H. C. Anderson. J. J. Paul, I). A. Swann, A. AFLaren. A. T. Hill, C. ,1. Thom, .1. O’Driscoll. .1. AAnod, and AV. Ellis, these gentlemen combining to make an outstanding social gathering of the ball. The Kapai Band was in good lorm and played lively music for both the old and'new dances. The sets were r feature, the young people enjoying inn square dances just as much as the more mature, folk. AVith practical experience behind them, the committee had made the floor perfect. Recent balls have been held on a. rough floor at the Art Gallcrv Hall, but last, nmht th« wood was in excellent order. The, hall was prettily decorated with streamers, greenery, and electric (1 10 supper was served in the fug ball.
