Tho annual conference of the New Zealand Auto-cycle Union was held hero io-dav, when delegates from twelve affiliated clubs were present. Affiliation was granted the Auckland Sports Motor Club. The. New Zealand championships were allocated for the coming year as follows ; _Light-weight, at Wanganui; middle-weight, at Foxton; and heavyweight at Gisborne. The election of officers resulted as follows;—President, Mr \V. Spragg (Hawera); vice-presidents—Messrs G. Allan (New Plymouth), H. B. Burrell (Feildiug), and J. C. Kay (Auckland) ; treasurer, Mr K. Fowler (Marton) ; secretary, Mr A. Way (Marton); auditor, Mr F. Hathcrly (Marton); executive—the chairman, and Messrs I-I. B. Burrell (Feildiug), B. Palmer (Manawatu). A remit was carried that the benevolent fund covers riders from the time they leave the birdcage, prior to doing the preliminary spin, till after the last race A remit was also carried granting doctors and hospital masseurs’ expenses when ordered by medical practitioners and certified. A full discussion on the question of holding an Auto-cycle Union reliability trial was held, Mr W. Spragg (Hawera) stating that he had tried last year to get a trial under way, Tint had met with no support from the affiliated clubs. It was eventually decided to recommend that the new executive investigate with power to act. The rule governing the size and shape of number plates was altered to read: “ Plates must bo Sin, with white figures on a black background, and rectangular instead of circular. Riders must also wear numbers of their hacks ”
