Pratteu (Australian Minister of Trade and Customs), before leaving for America, said in an interview that he was confident that his meetings with the industrialists would lead to the investment of £5,000,000 in branch factories. Artificial silk alone would involve an expenditure of £1,000,000. Other industries were tinplate manufacture, floor coverings, and other goods.
