FIRE BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING Tho monthly meeting of tho Fire Board was held yesterday afternoon, the president (Mr J. Wilson) being in the chair. Others present were Messrs ■I. L. Salmond, W. A. Scott, J. S. Tlislop. F. T. Anderson, and A. Burn. The General Committee reported that accounts amounting to £”,665 us Id had been passed for payment. In his report Superintendent A. G. Napier stated that thirty-eight calls had boon attended during the month. Seven were fires in or on properties, twelve were chimney fires, two bush fire.s, and seventeen false alarms. Eleven false alarms were maliciously given, three were of automatic origin, one was accidental, and two were of a justifiable nature. The stations of the brigade were all in tho usual good state o? "repair, only minor matters having required attention. Tho motors, plant, and equipment of the brigade were in as efficient order as circumstances permitted. No. 5 motor was still off duty undergoing extensive overhaul and repair, and us soon as possible would replace No. 4 (Roslyn). Tho staff was at its full strength, with tho exception of a small minority who were on the sick list. Eighty-two calls were attended by the ambulance motors duty ing tho month, involving a mileage of 167 miles. The report was adopted. The board approved of Messrs Jas. Noil’s, Ltd., premises being connected to the brigades aerial wiring.
