m’ERREPTKLVS AT THEATRE. “ BOOING ” liY “DOLE BOYS.” Sir Hairy Lauder was subjected to some interruption mid “ booing ” a few' week;; ago, when lie appeared on the stage at nu opening performance at Birkenhead, England. Remarks were shouted at him. from the gallery, but the comedian ignored them. _ As the curtain fell, however, “booing” was beard amid the applause, and was re* pealed when he came on tho stage again. Holding up bis band, Sir Harry began to express bis pleasure at being iu i Birkenhead, when a voice cried : “Hope I it’s the last time,” and another asked: “ What arc you bore for?” Looking up to the gallery, Sir Harry replied: “ f am here to do my business,” a remark which was greeted with applause, renewed when ho added: “You know you are iu a minority.” Tho comedian proceeded to sing another song, but there was no repetition of the hostile outburst. Sir Harry au interview the next day said the disturbance was caused by the “dole hoys,” who evidently resented some recent remarks hy himself with respect to the dole. “ What I said about the dole.” he remarked, “is nothing to what hundreds of thousands have said and what other millions arc thinking. I look upon last night’s exhibition at the theatre as a worthless demonstration of intimidation, and as a Britisher I refuse to be intimidated,”
