FLOODS IN AMERICA
FRESH OUTBREAKS THREE STATES AFFECTED MUCH DAMAGE TO WHEAT CROPS Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright. WASHINGTON, June 21. (Received Juno 22, at 10 a.m.) A message from Kansas City states that a fresh outbreak of floods heavily damaged sections of the Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas wheat regions, Kansas is most heavily hit. The damage is estimated already to have exceeded 200,000 dollars. Production throughout the section has slackened by 25 per cent. Reapers have been forced to leave with the crops half gathered. The Cottonwood River is steadily rising. Several towns near Emporia have been cut off, and flood warnings are being issued as the lesser streams rise, threatening to inundate more fields and towns. Lakes have overflowed, causing heavy damage to cottages and homes. Tiny streams have assumed mile-wide proportions, covering hundreds of of farmlands. Smaller towns are isolated.
