LIMBLESS SOLDIERS
SUPPLY OF ARTIFICIAL LIMBS In regard to the future supply of artificial limbs for ex-soldiers, ilia Minister of Defence has now arranged for the postponement for sis months of the acceptance of tho tender for the supply in accordance with tho specifications recently Ho also promised that samples of various makes of artificial limbs will be imported from England and given a trial before the final decision is reached. After a trial of the limb which has been in use here and those which are coming from England, the department will W> in a position to compare the efficiency and service of the various types. It is presumed that the Mackay Artificial Limb Company will carry out repairs in the meantime. Mr. J. M. White (secretary of the Dunedin R.S.A.) informed a reporter this morning that at the recent conference of the New Zealand R.S.A. the Minister was requested to try out the various types of limb for a period of twelve months, as it was considered that a test for six months was not sufficient. The Dunedin association, however, which was the prime mover in the matter, is gratified that something is to bo done. The evidence gained from the testing of the various limbs should be invaluable, and should Jesuit in ultimate satisfaction to the wearers.
