Sir Archibald Boyd-Carpenter, Lieu-t.enant-colonel Hacking, and Mr A. R. Fenu, comprising tho British Trade Delegation, left Dunedin by the 11.34 train this morning. Mr J. W. Collins, representing the Government, is to accompany them as far as Wellington, .where they stay to-morrow. Their passages to Melbourne are booked on the Marama, sailing from Auckland on Friday. Mr C. Speight and Mr A. Stewart are on their way to Wellington, having left by the through express this morning. Dr Batchelor came up from Invercargill by this morning’s express. Mr F. W. M'Lean was a passenger from Dunedin for Wellington by the through tram to-day. Mr T. Timpany levelled from the south to Dunedin this morning. Fire M.L.O-’s, Sir J. S. Sinclair, tho Hons. 6. M. Thomson, W. Scott, D. T. Fleming, and A. F. Hawke, w.ent off this morning to attend to their duties in Parliament, also three members of the House of Representatives— Messrs J. Horn, F. Waite, and Adam Hamilton. A Christchurch Association telegram announces the death of Mr John R. Olliver, aged forty-nine, after a short illness. He was one of the best-known sporting journalists in tho dominion, and was on the staff of the ‘ Referee ’ for twenty-eight years, for the last eighteen months as editor. At last night’s meeting of tho St. Kilda Borough Council a motion of sympathy was passed with tho relatives of the late Mr W. W. Pennycuick, secretary of the St. Kilda Band. The famous pianist, Jan Ignac Paderewski, accompanied by Madame Paderewski and his secretary, arrived by train from tho north yesterday afternoon. The party’ was met and welcomed by Messrs G. W. Johnstone, R. Bennell, Max Scherek, and Dr Galway. New visitors to tho Grand Hotel are M. and Mme. Paderewski, Miss H. Lubke, and Messrs L. G. Sharpe, Marcel .Senton, and Reg. Pragnell (London), Mr E. G. Joubert (New York), Mr V, C. Herbert (Patea), Mr R. W. Gollan ami Mrs I. I, Burke (Wellington), Mr A. Thompson (Christchurch), and Mr J. Timmings (Alexandra). ‘ Among those staying at the City Hotel are Mr J. A. Adams (Victoria, B.O.), Mr W. Moon, Mr H. E. Noseworthy (Montreal), Mr Stan. Tait, Mr E. Edmonds (Nanaimo, B.O.), Mr F. Crawley, Mr D. Turner (Toronto, Ontario), Mr J. Monaghan (Woodfibre, 8.C.), Mr D. Thomson, Mr W. Bibson (Winnipeg), Mr D. Archibald (Vancouver), Mr J. Davidson (Edmonton), Mr R. L. Williams (Vancouver, 8.C.), Mr P. Francis (Calgary), Mr G. Hander, Mr C. R.eid, Mr Milbnrn, Mr B. Edwards (Wellington), Misses O’Byrne and Patton (Invercargill). .
