LUXURY LINER
HEW FRENCH VESSEL SEAPLANES CARRIED. Press Association —Bj jeelograph—Copyright LONDON, June 20. The Lo Havre correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ says that France seems successfully to have “ out-luxuricd ” everything afloat with her new transatlantic 43.000- liner. It is the largest liner constructed since the war. '1 ho designers apparently aimed to make the passengers when on hoard lorget they wero on a ship. The features include a chapel accommodating eighty persons, a striking marble reception hall, electric lighting (giving the effect of .softened sunlight), beautiful statues, marble pillars, Sevres vases, and a grand drawing room. The dining room is the largest on any steamer, and will accommodate 700 of the 1,658 passengers. The vessel will carry three seaplanes, which will proceed to shore when the steamer is within reasonable distance of the coast, thus shortening the voyage for passengers in a hurry. The vessel will shortly make her maiden voyage to New York, after which she will enter on the Havre-Plymouth-New York service. Excursionists from all parts of France have inspected the vessel.— 1 The Times.’ GER BIANY ’S COMPETITI ON. BERLIN, June 19. Germany has placed orders for two 46.000- passenger steamers, with which she intends to try to recapture the blue ribbon of the Atlantic services.
