ST. KILDA BOROUGH
COUNCIL MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the St. Hilda Borough Council urns held last evening, the Mayor (Mr Tl- W- HaU) presiding. Others present; Crs 11. U. Leary, T. D. B. Hoy, J. W. M'Curdy, F. 0. Gil lam, G. Ccnn, Geo. Stratton. J. Beattie, C. Longworth, and B. Telfer. A letter signed by three residents o. Royal terrace, Musselburgh, stated that two months ago the storm-water drain connected to.their properties retimed to function, and they paid the sum of LI for the right to have the roadway opened in order to allow a drainer to got at the trouble. He did his work apparently quite satisfactorily, but recently it was found that the inult had again appeared, and the drain refused to carry off the storm water. The road where opened was not in again by the council’s employees -Her the drainer had completed his work, and they attributed the present recurrence of the trouble to this neglect. -• Tt was decided that the council should foot the bill if it was proved that the damage was done by heavy traffic ing over the road. ~ , The Secretary of the Musselburga Girl Guides wrote thanking tho -oincil for granting the use of tho na.) free for the Guide concert. A deputation from the Tainui Progressive League waited upon the council and discussed matters concerning roads, channelling, and footpaths in Tninui. Mr 11. G. Smith asked that the cross-streets in tho area lie attended to, as well as the main streets. The Mayor explained that in the licit schedule of works tho cross-streets would receive attention. Tho Mayor said that the council mid purchased a motor truck for tho heavy carting in tho borough.
