WAR DEBTS
BRITAIN’S POLICY Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright LONDON, June IS. (Received Juno 16, at 11.10 a.m.) In the House of Commons Mr G. Lockor-Lampson (under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs), in answer to a question, said: “The United States Government has not been approached with the suggestion that it should contribute to the cost of the war. Britain’s war debt policy is well known. We favor an all-round cancellation, but not securing that, wo are fulfilling our obligations as debtors, and as creditors we are seeking only to obtain from the debts to Britain and from reparations sufficient to cover the payments made. t An international conference on war debts would serve no useful purpose in the absence of a preagreement on general principles.”—A. and N.Z. and ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
