‘THE OTHER SIDE.’

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Some two years ago my husband and I visited Air “ C ” in South Dunedin, and were entertained in much the same way as described by the Press report. Air “C ” first opened with a hymn, and as we listened we heard in the distance what could only be described as angelic voices, which gradually descended into tho centre of the room, and there in full light wc listened to an unseen, choir of several voices blending in rich harmony. Alter j that wo had songs, cornet solos, and I duets, saxaphone and violin solos. Aly ) husband, who has had a stage career, and knows most of the tricks, was fully convinced that ventriloquism was out of the question, as Prince, England’s greatest ventriloquist, has not yet been able to produce more than one voice at a time, and to imitate a cornet duet he would never attempt. If it is ventriloquism this mere child could command a Prince’s salary in London and the Continent, and would ho a tremendous box office draw to theatres. The simple test to which Mr Bock refers, to test any ventriloquist toy husband gives to the public free of charge. Let any person visit Air “C” for a demonstration, and ask the “soul” known as “Charlie” or “ Little Betty ” to say “ permanganate of potash.” If it is ventriloquism the letter “p” must bo pronounced a distinct letter “ k.’- Air “C” and his niece will be only too pleased to submit to this test, knowing them as I do. I am pleased to see Air F. J. O’Neill and other prominent business | men in Dunedin so interested in the | movement, and each can try the simple i test for himself, which was not a secret known only to Air Beck. —I am, etc., V.K, June 14.
