DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT
BOTH MARKETS IMPROVE Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Co. supply the following report on our butter and cheese in Loudon. The report is dated June 8: As anticipated, the butter market has shown a distinct firming during the past few weeks, and has now reached as high as ITUs per cwt. Latest advices are that, although the market is quiet (and. finest is being freely offered at . 16S» per cwt, it is quite probable that , we shall see a further improvement in j the near future. Although arrivals of , New Zealand butter during the n?xt throe months will bo considerably heavier than,last year, the statistical position is sound. The Northern 'Hemisphere spring is from three weeks to a month late, and New Zealand butter is naturally reaping the benefit of this delay in northern production Tee. cheese market has continued to improve, and qurtations reached as high as 94s for colored; but last week the market showed a weaker tendency, .Arrivals of new season’s Canadian cheese has been delayed by the late spring, but we must expect fairly heavy quantities from the end of this month onwards. ArrLsUs of New Zealand cheese during July, August, and September will be considerably heavier than last year, and these increased arrivals from New Zealand, together with the Canadian make, will probably prevent any further improvement in cheese quotations.
