FIRE IN BOARDING HOUSE

MAN BADLY BURNT [Psa United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 18. A fire occurred shortly after midnight in a two-story boarding-house in the terrace, occupied by Mrs Barrett. The balcony and bedroom were ablaze, but the flames were quickly suppressed by the brigade. Gilbert Martin, married, aged fortyfour, one of the occupants, received severe burns to his left side, arm, body, and face, and had to bo removed to the hospital. His condition is fairly serious. The owner of the house is Margaret O’Connor. The insurances are £IOO on the contents in the Royal Office, £1,200 on the building in the Phranix Office. Smoking is supposed to have been the cause pf the fire.
