ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
STRUCK BY TRAIN. An accident in the Timaru railway yard occurred last evening, when Samson David, aged seventy-seven years, a superannuated railway bridge inspector, was struck bv a special train and killed almost instantly. DOBSON MINE TRAGEDY—LAST BODY FOUND At a late hour the body of James Marshall, the last of the Dobson disaster victims remaining in the mine, was discovered, and the funeral will probably be held to-day, when the coal miners of all the Grey district pits will attend. MOTOR lATALITY. A fata! accident occurred at 4.30 on Monday afternoon between Kaeo and Whangaroa. A live-seater car driven by Mr Julian Shepherd, of Whangaroa, and containing two passengers, was rounding a bend in the road, when it encountered a lorry driven by air Scott, of Kaco. In attempting to pass the car ran off the road and leaped down a bank 14ft, turning over and landing on its wheels again. The driver, who suf!creel severe head and body injuries, never recovered consciousness, and died an hour or two after admission to the Whangaroa Hospital. Mr William Moselem received" head injuries, but ha soon recovered consciousness, and is now in tied at Ins home at Whangaroa. The third occupant of the car, a lady doctor, was not seriously injured, though she received a severe shock* Au inquest will be held.—Whangarei message. .
