(Received May IS, at 10 a.m.) Tile representatives of Canada, South Africa, and New Zealand who attended the opening of the Federal Parliament at Canberra were entertained at a civic reception by the Lord Mayor. The Hon. A. D. M'Leod. responding on behalf of New Zealand, expressed his appreciation of the manner in which the people of Australia had received the dominions’ representatives. “We in New Zealand,” he continued, “ are the closest to Australia, and New Zealand has a deep affection for the Australians. There arc 40,000 New Zealanders in Australia and 50,000 Australians living in New Zealand. 1 wish the Australians would visit New Zealand more, for we have many natural attractions, and they would enjoy visit ing us and getting to know ns more.”
